Meta on Thursday launched an edit button for Threads. With the new feature, you have five minutes after posting to edit your post as many times as you’d like. When you wish to fix an error in a post, you have to delete it and then repost it.
Contrary to X, formerly Twitter, which just provided an edit button last year and thereafter locked it behind a membership, Threads is distributing the edit button to users without charging an additional fee.
The edit button was introduced about three months after the social network’s debut and is accessible on mobile and the web.
The edit history of a post is not displayed in Threads, unlike X, which does so to promote transparency and guard against false information.
In this instance, users on Threads have the ability to publish anything, have it receive likes and reposts, and then edit the post’s text afterwards without leaving any type of trace of the original content.
The announcement made today coincides with the news that Threads is getting ready to introduce a Trends feature in an effort to compete with X more effectively.
