TikTok on Tuesday launched a new feature that will let users publish straight to the video platform via apps like Twitch, SocialPilot, and ByteDance’s CapCut, as well as other apps like Adobe’s AI-powered Premiere Pro and Adobe Express.

It also improves on TikTok’s current “Share to” connections, which allow third-party apps to publish to TikTok along with their own hashtags.

The new option, Direct Post, is actually intended for the creators of third-party apps that wish to interact more directly with TikTok.

However, with Direct Post, apps can make use of additional features like the ability to set captions, audience settings, and more within their own platform before sending information to TikTok with a single click.

This is in addition to the ability to post video content directly to TikTok’s platform.

Additionally, through social media management tools, the capability enables long-form video makers to plan the publication of their work on TikTok.

With the addition, TikTok will be able to make use of developments made in a wider range of creative apps, such as those that use AI technology for video editing.

To use this feature, creators must log in to the third-party app with their TikTok account, before being permitted to access Direct Post’s Content Posting API, the TikTok-affiliated apps must also pass an auditing process.

Developers of artistic tools and video editing apps have access to the API. According to TikTok, the API will soon accept photographs as well.
