The instant messaging service Discord said on Friday morning that it had resumed operations following an hours-long outage.
According to the company, the platform had been seeing “unusual traffic spikes” when the outage occurred. According to independent site monitoring service Downdetector, the problems started at about 6 AM ET/3 AM PT.
On Friday morning, the company’s status page stated, “We’re experiencing unusual traffic spikes that lead to users being temporary blocked and we’re working on mitigating this issue,”
A notification reading “Sorry, you have been blocked” was what users reported when they couldn’t log into the site on social media. People who were able to log on said they couldn’t access their messages.
It appears that Cloudflare, which is presently having difficulty with its Dashboard and API service and performing regular maintenance, is connected to the problems.
