The head of policy for South Asia and India at social networking platform X, has quit, Samiran Gupta, Reuters reported.
The departure comes just before the elections in India and while the company is engaged in a legal dispute with India over the removal of content.
According to his LinkedIn page, Gupta was X’s most senior employee in India and was in charge of “key content-related policy issues,” “defending Twitter’s position with new policy developments, and supporting in-country sales organisation.”
Gupta declined to comment to Reuters about the reason for his sudden departure.
According to Gupta’s LinkedIn profile, which stated that his employment at X ended in September, he “enabled transition leadership for Twitter post acquisition by Elon Musk led X-Corp.”
He joined the company eight months before Musk completed his $44 billion acquisition of Twitter Inc., in February 2022.
India is a significant market for X, with about 27 million users. Regular users of the platform include Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other government representatives.
