President Bola Tinubu, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, World Bank Country Director Shubham Chaudhuri, and other key industry stakeholders are expected to attend the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria’s 16th annual conference.
The Punch reported that the Chairman of the Conference’s Consultative Committee, Bukola Smith, stated this during a news conference on Monday.
The two-day event, titled ‘Nigeria’s Economic Growth and Empowerment: The Role of the Financial Services Industry,’ was set to take place in Abuja in September.
Tinubu will open the event, while the acting Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Folashodun Shonubi, will deliver a special goodwill message.
Smith stated in her opening remarks, “The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is expected to inaugurate the conference, while the acting Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr Folashodun Shonubi, will deliver a special goodwill message alongside other top government dignitaries, including the Minister of Finance & Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, as well as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, His Excellency, Mr Nyesom Wike.”
She added that the Chaudhuri would give the keynote talk.
The debates and decisions of the conference are aimed at shaping the role of the financial services industry in supporting Nigeria’s economic growth, empowerment, and stability.
