The Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, disclosed that Nigeria’s aircraft, Nigeria Air is set to land in the country on Friday, representing a significant milestone in the commencement of its operations.
In his appearance on Channels Television, the minister assured that the aircraft would be unveiled adorned in Nigeria’s national colours, fulfilling all the commitments made by the administration in the aviation sector.
However, he acknowledged that the only outstanding aspect yet to be completed is the aerotropolis, also known as the airport city, which is currently 60 percent complete.
Senator Sirika stated that the groundwork has been finalized, and they are looking forward to concluding the construction of the airport city under the next administration.
This publication recalls that Sirika announced in March during an aviation stakeholder’s forum held in Abuja, that Nigeria Air would commence full operations before the end of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
In response to a question regarding the specific commencement date, the minister affirmed, “Before the end of this administration, before May 29th, we will fly.”
He further emphasized that the Federal Government has made significant advancements in the aviation sector, accomplishing over 90 per cent of the roadmap set for the industry. As a result, the government is leaving the aviation sector in a better condition than when it assumed responsibility.
