The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board disclosed that it organized a two-week training session for Women Business Leaders and Entrepreneurs.
According to The Punch, the training which was under the umbrella of Women in Oil and Gas was held in Port Harcourt.
According to the Manager of Human Capital Development of the Capacity Building Division of the Board, Mrs Angela Okoro, the Board partnered with Empretec Foundation to address the specific needs of female entrepreneurs.
She stated, “The collaboration between the Board and Empretec Foundation aimed to address the specific needs of female entrepreneurs, by providing them with the necessary tools and knowledge to establish a strong business foundation and effectively manage corporate governance within their enterprises.”
Okoro further explained that the training came at a time when women were given a right of place in the oil and gas industry, and the Executive Secretary of the NCCF, Simbi Wabote, was keen on human capacity development for women.
Mrs. Okoro also noted that the training was well-attended by over 70 participants.
According to the report, the participants were trained on the essential skills needed to run a business effectively, such as business sustainability, budgeting, inventory control management, and governance, and how to write a business plan.
Furthermore, the Managing Director of Ansett Group, Mrs. Edith Akwaeke, encouraged the participants to be resilient in delivering quality service as it would distinguish them in the industry.
The participants were advised by Mrs Edith Akwaeke to adopt a mindset of being solution providers rather than acting like bosses and to effectively apply their expertise to solve problems.
