An aviation expert, Olumide Ohunayo, has described the decision of Ethiopia’s visa-on-arrival ban for Nigerian travellers.

PUNCH Metro reported that Ethiopian Airlines via a document made available to the press stated,“Please be informed that effective immediately, no more visa on arrival for Nigerian Citizens.”

The circular explained that “passengers are to obtain their visa at the Ethiopian embassy in Abuja before travelling.”

The Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika revealed that Ethiopian airlines emerged as a core investor in the Nigerian National Carrier, Nigeria Air, following a bid.

Reacting to the development, an aviation expert, Olumide Ohunayo stated that the decision of Ethiopian airlines was not in the fair interest of its partnership process with Nigeria.

“I doubt if Ethiopia has given us some respect. Here is an airline that is trying to partner with us as a national carrier, which already has about three points of entry into the country using the Togolese national carrier.”
