Amazon on Monday launched a new $79 Echo Spot alarm clock with a revised look and enhanced audio quality.
This was disclosed in a statement on Amazon website on Monday.
Amazon described Echo Spot as a sleek new configurable smart alarm clock with a range of custom-designed clock faces and vibrant colors. It is designed for the nightstand, with a display that makes it easy to set and see alarms, see the time, weather, or song titles at a glance, and a directional speaker that offers rich sound.
It is the device’s first upgrade since Amazon debuted the Echo Spot in 2017. The earlier version, which Amazon sold for $129, also had a semicircle shape, but it had a full-size display and camera.
Amazon said members of its $139-per-year Prime membership may get the new Echo Spot for $44.99 until July 17, when it holds its Prime Day megasale.
Amazon is upgrading the Echo Spot as it prepares to replace Alexa, the voice assistant that powers its smart speakers, CNBC previously reported.
During its fall event, which is normally held in September, the business will do a formal announcements about its Echo and Alexa lines.
“The all-new Echo Spot builds on what our customers loved most about the original product—like the semi-spherical shape, access to Alexa, and the compact and vibrant display—and reimagines it with even better visuals and improved audio quality, ” Amazon stated.
Im the statement, the Echo Spot display can be modified to match the decor of your bedroom. Choose from six colorways—orange, violet, magenta, lime, teal, and blue—to find a feel that suits your taste.
